Tokyo Tower's Main Deck (at 150m) will be opened
from 6 a.m. on New Year's Day (January 1) 2019.
From the Main Deck, you can watch the first sunrise over Tokyo Bay.
* The first sunrise in 2019 will be at 6:50 a.m.
As part of our special service each New Year's Day,
we will be giving away commemorative medals (not for sale) engraved with "2019.1.1"
to the first 2019 visitors to the observatory.
The "Top Deck Tour" where you can ascend 250 meters to the top deck will begin its sunrise tour.
Forty winners will be selected by drawing.
For details and on how to enter, please visit the following page.
The deadline for entry is December 10.
The application period for the lottery for the tour concluded on December 10th.
It should be noted that all top deck tours after the sunrise tour will resume at 9 AM.
* Advance reservations for participation in the Top Deck tour are recommended.
After viewing the first sunrise at Observatory,
why not drop by the Great Shinto Shrine of the Tower,
located at the upper deck of the observatory,
for hatsumode (the first Shinto shrine visit of the new year)?
As the shrine with the highest location within Tokyo's 23 wards,
it is good to pray here for passing examinations, finding love, and traffic safety.
*Due to construction on the main deck, the Great Shinto Shrine of the Tower has been temporarily relocated to the third floor of FootTown.
At the side of the shrine, you can hang ema (pieces of wood where one can write their wishes)
in the shape of Tokyo Tower, with your resolutions and dreams for the year written on them.
From January 1 to 3, lion dancers and lively chindon'ya (traditional Japanese street musicians)
will also be wandering around the main gate at the first floor as well as within Foot Town,
adding to the festive feeling of the new year!
Dates: January 1 (Tue) ~ January 3rd (Thu).
Times: (1)12:00pm~ (2)14:00pm~ (3)16:00pm~
